On June 18 I visited Transportes Collarte's operation at Michilla with Volvo Chile Managing Director Sergei Iavorskii and Northern Region Manager Richard Bianchi. In the field, we saw Volvo FMX 8×4 tippers taking part in open-pit copper extraction, moving material directly from the working area.
I thanked Enrique and Gonzalo Collarte for welcoming us and showing us their work. Copper mining is among Chile's most important productive activities and a driver of national economic and social development. Operations like theirs demonstrate the commitment, efficiency and long-term vision behind the country's position in this strategic mineral.
