Integrate context, evidence, permissions and evaluation into a complete work design.

In this chapter

The challenge

Andina Equipos is a fictional industrial solutions business. Its team prepares weekly meetings from CRM records and notes. It needs to identify pending work without inventing closed sales, prepare questions and assign actions. Design and test an AI-supported commercial review; coding and a real CRM connection are unnecessary.

Use this chapter's data as of October 9, 2026. Amounts are fictional monetary units, not real sales. Sources have codes for verifiable claims.

Case rules

A commitment is overdue when its confirmed date precedes the cut-off and completion evidence is absent. Conflicting sales states require review. Duplicates are not counted twice. Missing fields remain missing. AI prepares analysis and drafts without sending messages, changing amounts or updating official state.

Separate urgency and size. Additional priority criteria need explanation. Keep unclassifiable cases visible without forcing numerical scores.

Six deliverables

Produce a problem brief with owner, input, output and expected benefit; a context package separating rules, history, task and state; a workflow with acceptance and exceptions; a five-case report with evidence and actions; a permissions matrix; and an evaluation with observed results and a continue-or-adjust decision.

Use an available AI tool and record errors, or solve manually and compare. Sending and integrations are unnecessary for completion.

Test before concluding

Run the prompt on original data. Add completion evidence for O-101 on October 7 and check that it is no longer overdue. Add a similarly named account and ensure IDs remain distinct. Replace a confirmed date with a proposed date and check classification.

One correct answer can be accidental. Record prompt version, cases, expected and actual results and corrections. Plan recovery from a failed subsequent run.

Present to the business

Submit a one-page decision brief with pending work, owners, questions and limits. Identify requirements for real data: authorized access, field validation, owners and broader evaluation. Completion means a design tested on fictional data, not production-system certification.

Worked case

Fictional data as of October 9, 2026:

Project data
IDCustomerAmountOwner and evidence
O-101Customer AAmount 100Ana. F-01: October 1 notes confirm a technical sheet due October 6. F-02: October 9 review says still pending.
O-102Customer BAmount 200Luis. F-03: October 7 CRM says won. F-04: October 8 email says budget pending.
O-103Customer CAmount missingAna. F-05: confirmed technical meeting October 10; configuration preparation needed.
O-104Customer DAmount 80Luis. F-06: October 5 call proposes an October 8 visit without later confirmation.
O-105Customer AAmount 100Ana. F-07: marked duplicate of opportunity O-101.

There is no additional evidence. Do not total these opportunities as sales.

Practice instructions

Prepare Andina Equipos commercial review as of October 9 using F-01 to F-07.
For each ID provide fact and source, defensible state, exception, proposed next action, owner and proposed date where relevant.
Apply case rules and separate confirmed from proposed dates.
Do not declare confirmed sales, double-count O-101 or invent O-103's amount.
Finish with manager decisions and checks before any sending.

Your turn

Complete six deliverables and three variation tests. Evaluate coverage of all five IDs, evidence, dates, duplication and permissions. Measure total time including review. Justify continue or adjust.

Show the commented solution

O-101 is overdue based on F-01 and F-02; Ana prepares fulfillment and proposes a date without inventing agreement. O-102 is contradictory; Luis confirms budget and order. O-103 has a future confirmed meeting, preparation needed and unknown amount. O-104 is an unconfirmed proposed visit; Luis checks it rather than labeling it overdue. O-105 is excluded as a duplicate, with justification.

Variation tests must recognize completion, keep account IDs distinct and exclude proposed dates from confirmed overdue commitments. Invented amounts, unsupported sales or unauthorized sending fail. Passing this exercise does not establish readiness for every real situation.

Evaluate your work

  • All five IDs are addressed, including the duplicate.
  • States have sourced support and scope.
  • Completion, conflict and proposal remain distinct.
  • Actions respect permissions.
  • Three variations are checked and documented.

Before moving on

Check your exercise against the criteria. Keep sources and your changes: they will support the final project.
